A Variety of Components and Fittings
Our latest test stand RAND-E currently utilizes 10 solenoid valves, 4 pneumatic actuators and numerous check, relief and ball valves located at various places within the fluid system to control fluid flow. We hand cut, bend, flare and install all of our hard tubing and utilize a combination of NPT, JIC/AN and BSPP fittings throughout the fluids system. We use primarily COT’s components and valves but will utilize valves developed in-house by the SRD team in the future.
Our Rocket Controls and Electronics
To save on costs and complexity, we built our own data collection and actuation system for our engine testing setup. This enables us to collect the data we need and rapidly improve our engine designs.
We believe that starting with a robust backbone is the most important part of any engineering process, so we decided on a simple, lightweight, unified 24V power bus. We were also inspired by the Controller Area Network (CAN) interface used in cars and some avionics systems, which allows multiple devices to interact and exchange data over just one wire pair.
We implement its latest and fastest version, CAN FD, on all our new systems.
