Liquid Rocketry at Illinois (LRI) was founded to fulfill students' passion for building liquid-fueled rockets. Our mission is to inspire a spirit of space exploration by designing, manufacturing, and testing liquid-propellant rocket engines. Through our technical projects, we offer members unique opportunities to tackle some of the world's most engaging engineering challenges.
Learning happens through execution.
At LRI, our goal is to sustain liquid rocketry by focusing on designing projects from cradle to grave and implementing professional standards. Seeing a project through from start to finish allows us to learn about and implement the engineering process, getting feedback through hardware testing. Replicating industry technology prepares our members to innovate in their careers by equipping them with vital technical skills and experiences, in addition to a foundation in project management.
